Chester County Community Foundation announces capacity building grant opportunity

Wednesday, July 5, 2023

(CHESTER COUNTY, PA – July 5, 2023): For almost 30 years, the Chester County Community Foundation has served as Chester County’s premier vehicle for local philanthropic giving.  The Foundation’s mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter, so their philanthropy makes a difference now & forever.

The Community Foundation encourages Chester County nonprofit organizations to submit proposals for funding consideration. Although general proposals can be submitted at any time, grants for capacity building will be accepted starting July through September 13. Preference is given to small and mid-size nonprofits located in and serving Chester County, which strengthen the social, cultural, health, educational and/or economic character of a community.

“Capacity building provides grantees the opportunity to improve their organizational effectiveness,” notes Stephenie Stevens, Grants Director & Outreach Officer at the Chester County Community Foundation. “A capacity-building grant can help a nonprofit with additional training, a fundraising tool, a consultant, or help with strategic planning. We want to help strengthen the nonprofit communities in Chester County through this financial award.”

Capacity-building projects should strengthen a nonprofit, in areas including: Mission, Vision & Strategy, Governance & Leadership, Strategic Relationships, Fundraising & Development and Operations.

Eligible applicants must be charitable, tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)(3) certification.  The Foundation cannot fund individuals.

The proposal format is available online at www.chescocf.org/receive/apply-for-grants/.  Complete proposals include the 1-page Grant Proposal Summary Sheet, a brief Grant Proposal Narrative, and Attachments.  E-mail proposals are strongly encouraged.
