Envisioning a Trust-Based Future for Philanthropy
Philanthropy is experiencing a moment of cultural reckoning, with more and more foundations coming to terms with the entrenched power imbalances we’ve inherited or inadvertently helped sustain. Trust-Based Philanthropy offers clear next step, with a set of principles that rethink traditional funder-grantee relationships and acknowledge the expertise and leadership of nonprofit partners. But how do we actually take steps to alleviate power imbalances, and why is this important to our sector?
We invite you to join us to consider these questions, as we hear from leaders on the front lines of the national trust-based philanthropy movement. Together we’ll explore the big picture ideas that are driving a trust-based approach, how it benefits funders and grantees alike, and how we can all work collectively to bring greater joy, authenticity, and learning to our work. We will also hear from local practitioners who have taken steps to build more trust-based relationships, what they’re learning along the way, and the challenges and opportunities it is raising for their grantee partners.
