In October 2016, Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation, and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey released Trauma-Informed Philanthropy, Volume One that laid the groundwork for funders to understand how trauma contributes to poor health and social outcomes across the lifespan and provided initial ideas for applying a trauma-informed lens to philanthropy.

We are pleased to release the second volume in the series, which builds on the knowledge and skills presented in the first Funders' Resource Guide. In Trauma-Informed Philanthropy: Volume Two, lessons learned from leading local and national efforts provide insights that inform recommended strategies for advancing the trauma-informed movement in Philadelphia.

Join us for a launch event for Trauma-Informed Philanthropy: Volume Two to explore how philanthropy can leverage both resources and relationships to advance trauma-informed practice and move from knowledge to action.  Highlights of Volume Two include:

  • Profiles of five trauma-informed change efforts in Philadelphia, featuring work across multiple service sectors and implementation domains
  • Key learnings about cross-sector collaborative networks and the role of philanthropy as change agent, from leading national initiatives
  • Tools for grant-makers to advance trauma-informed approaches, through funding priorities and practices, field building, and serving as connectors and thought-leaders
