The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum invites applications for Museum Administrative Coordinator, a part-time museum position.

Located in historic Bristol Borough, Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum Grundy Museum invites people of all ages to discover the story of the Grundy family during Bristol Borough's industrial heyday when they resided in their late Victorian Era home along the banks of the Delaware River. Tours and programs at Grundy Museum draw upon the family's passion for business, education, civic duty, and its fascination with history, the arts, gardening and the natural world. By preserving and interpreting this unique resource, Grundy Museum strives to enrich and strengthen its community.

Key Responsibilities: 

Coordinator works closely with Museum staff to ensure all aspects of administrative functions including documentation, reporting, and scheduling are carried out effectively and efficiently.

Primary responsibilities include a variety of routine to complex administrative, budgetary, collections, clerical, and office functions. Including but not limited to:

  • supporting and documenting the planning, preparation, budgeting, evaluation, outcome measurement, and reporting of/for programs, services, exhibits, events, and tours, including, but not limited to, logs, surveys, comment cards, and visitor statistics;
  • scheduling individual and group tours including management and maintenance of the online reservation system;
  • supporting staff in the scheduling of programs, services, exhibits, events, and special tours;
  • providing administrative support including proofreading and editing reports, grant submissions, and similar documents as needed;
  • supporting staff as assigned with collections care, building care, and landscaping; and serving as docent by providing tours for individuals and groups as needed.


Other duties: The Museum Administrative Coordinator also assists staff with collection inventories and organization, record maintenance, and proper collection care and storage in accordance with the Collections Policy Manual; coordinates as requested by staff with special projects such as museum accreditation and strategic planning; and assists with programs for adults and youth as needed.

Qualifications: 

Requirements:

  • Museum professional with a relevant undergraduate degree in Museum Studies, Education, Public History, or related subjects (advanced degree or credential preferred)
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in a museum or historic site environment preferred
  • Excellent digital literacy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office with expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good stamina and ability to stand on feet and walk for portions of the day; Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, and reach repeatedly, to climb ladders, to view small print, and to easily operate computer keyboards and other accessories; Ability to regularly lift and carry material and equipment weighing 30 lbs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and Written proficiencies
  • Organizational management and budgetary experience
  • PastPerfect software or similar database management system experience preferred
  • TicketLeap or similar online reservation/ticketing system experience preferred
  • Docent experience

Ability to be self-motivated, adaptable, responsible, proactive, work independently as well as part  of a team, and  have a strong interest in learning; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain priorities and meet deadlines consistently; Detail oriented with superb project management and organizational skills; Ability to work well with museum staff, volunteers, and external constituencies; Excellent digital literacy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office with expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel; Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

All museum positions require criminal background and child abuse clearances.

Salary/Benefits: 

Compensation: $20-$25 per hour (dependent on education and experience)

Hours: 24 hours per week including some evenings and weekends.
