The Funder Census Initiative, housed at Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation, has been hosting Census Funder Meetings for philanthropic institutions on the 2020 Census since mid-March. The meetings are a regular opportunity to review key census trends and messages, highlight best practices and challenges, identify operational issues, share funding approaches, and inform grantmaking.

Even as the count comes to a close, critical work remains to ensure fair and accurate census data are used for the purposes of apportionment, federal funding, redistricting, community planning, and more.  While some speakers are yet to be confirmed, join this meeting to hear the latest information on legal challenges and from census expert, Terri Ann Lowenthal, who will explain what the Census Bureau is doing.

Additionally, given the deep-seated concern that we’re on the precipice of a potentially significantly flawed census, the national funder collaborative has developed a funding plan for addressing census data quality. Developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, the plan covers a Communications Strategy, Census Data Integrity Research, and explores Federal & State Mitigation Approaches – all of which will be discussed.

Note: This meeting is open only to philanthropic institutions, including funders, philanthropy serving organizations, donor advisors, etc.
