Environmental injustice is much more than a climate crisis, it is intertwined with many injustices and social inequities. From hazardous pollution to natural disasters, the negative impacts of environmental injustice affect people of color at much higher rates than other communities. A report published by Carlton Waterhouse in 2013, Environmental Justice: Deadly Symptoms of a Larger Problem (Journal of Healthcare, Science and the Humanities), confirmed what many environmental funders already know: pollution is just one way that we have continued to perpetuate racist practices in our communities.
