Last June, CEP published research about how nonprofits were faring at the beginning of the pandemic. This February, we conducted a follow-up survey and drew three key findings:
- The COVID-19 pandemic has had negative impacts on nonprofits’ programming, revenue, demand, and costs.
- Increased financial support from funders helped nonprofits to fare better through 2020 than anticipated.
- Many nonprofits report that their foundation funders were flexible, responsive, and communicative in 2020. However, nonprofits led by women and nonprofits serving certain communities experienced somewhat less flexibility, responsiveness, and communication than other nonprofits.
In this topic introduction session, CEP will present this research and invite participants to imagine what they want the nonprofit sector to look like after the pandemic—and what their role will be in creating the future they envision. In breakout groups, participants will learn from and inspire one another.
