Join Salem Health & Wellness Foundation for their April Community Conversation, which explores the broader context of substance use and young parents in Salem County. With a focus on families, this virtual conversation aims to unpack Salem County’s maternal and family health outcomes and substance use among young parents while promoting strength-based protective factors. Featuring a panel with expertise in rural substance use, family and child welfare, and a perinatal considerations in South Jersey, this event will provide an overview of substance use and rural health in Salem County, family considerations of substance and social drivers of health, and perspective from the lived experience of a parent in recovery.
Panelists:
- Dr. Jamey Lister, PhD, MSW is an Associate Professor at Rutgers University in the School of Social Work. Dr. Lister serves as the Co-Director and New Jersey Director of the SAMHSA-funded Northeast & Caribbean Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Center (NeC-ROTAC) serving HHS Region 2 (NJ, NY, USVI, and PR). Having grown up in a rural community that is also a medically underserved area guides his community-engaged research projects.
- Quinn Ingemi is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in New Jersey with over 25 years of experience in social services. Having worked in the field of perinatal substance use since joining the Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative in 2011, Ms. Ingemi presently, serves as the Associate Director, Behavioral Health overseeing, coordinating, and implementing multiple state-funded programs that focus on perinatal substance use and mental health.
- Dr. Svetlana Shpiegel is a Professor at the Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair University. Her research interests include: adolescents transitioning from foster care, child abuse and neglect, risk and resilience among vulnerable populations, and early pregnancy and parenthood among child-welfare involved youth.
- Dr. Monica Lallo (moderator), Senior Vice President of Prevention, Youth, and Education Services at Acenda Integrated Health, is an educator, team strategist and advocate for improving government and nonprofit services to under-served youth and families. Throughout her professional career, she has been committed to bridging the socioeconomic divide that exists in disadvantaged communities. Dr. Lallo received her Doctorate in Education from Immaculata University, her Master’s degree in Public Administration from New York University, and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. She taught several courses at Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) in their Human Services Program as a Senior Adjunct Professor.
