The student loan crisis in the U.S. has spelled serious trouble for the economic lives of many women.
With 2/3 of all outstanding student loan debt, women have been hard hit by debilitating debt and interest payments, making it challenging, if not impossible, to cover other important expenses and invest in future wealth-building opportunities. On top of that, at the intersections of both gender and racial inequities, Black women in particular have been disproportionately burdened by college debt - posing a serious challenge to the advancement of gender and racial equity.
The White House's newly released Federal Student Loan Debt Relief program is an important step in combatting this crisis and will offer relief to many borrowers. At the same time, much more needs to happen in order to create transformative change and close the gender wealth gap.
Join WOMEN’S WAY for a timely, virtual discussion that will dig deeper into the student loan crisis and its connection to the gender wealth gap.
