In 2014, the West Philadelphia Promise Zone received a 10-year federal designation aimed at creating jobs, improving education, reducing crime and empowering the community. Using a collective impact models, which organizes the expertise and resources of more than 100 partners, the Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity has served as the lead agency in this work. Using a commitee structure in five focus areas - Housing, Health and Wellness, Public Safety, Education, and Workforce and Economic Opportunity - partners represent public, nonprofit, private, academic, and community based organizations. Together they have spearheaded a number of initiatives aimed at creating a vibrant and thriving community.
Join us on December 12 to hear from partners and community members about their continued work in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone and share your ideas about where we are headed.
