GGLR Learning Tuesdays affirms the Campaign's commitment to get better at getting better by learning with and from each other. The Funder to Funder Conversations are a special sub-series of GLR Learning Tuesdays, designed to provide more opportunities for shared learning, collaboration and even co-investing between and among local funders and their more "national" counterparts.

For the next Funder to Funder Conversation on February 16th, Debra Jacobs, President & CEO of The Patterson Foundation will moderate a discussion exploring how funders in disaster philanthropy can draw on their expertise to inform responses to this COVID disaster.

Patricia McIlreavy, the President and CEO of Center for Disaster Philanthropy, will explain the stages of a disaster and the critical roles that philanthropy can play in each stage. McIlreavy will engage in conversation with two local funders in the GLR Network as they share the steps they have taken to support children and families during the pandemic. Kayla Klein of United Way of the Black Hills, South Dakota, will share how they worked with area childcare providers to identify and address needs related to the pandemic and created tools and resources that help providers and partners advocate for increased funding and supports. Kimberly Rusnak of the Greater Washington Community Foundation will describe the foundation’s work in Montgomery County, Maryland, where it has examined educational equity during COVID-19 and supported “Ed Equity and Enrichment” hubs to ensure children have access to adult supervision, meals and opportunities for safe social engagement.
