The webinar aims to enhance the philanthropic community’s shared understanding of how to effectively advocate on behalf of public policy matters that align with their respective organizational mission and work.

The briefing will examine the challenges that foundations and philanthropy-serving organizations face when their investment interests intersect with social and governmental policy. As the philanthropic sector’s socio-political influence broadens, particularly on matters of equity and inclusion, the organizations responsible for steering social change are often tested by the determinations of their commitment to engaging public policy topics, given the concerns that doing so could negatively impact their non-profit status.

The goal of this webinar is to assess the truths and misconceptions of how non-profit civic engagement is regulated, to discuss systems for developing advocacy capacity, and to examine effective strategies for direct and indirect advocacy investment.

The webinar will feature Matthew L. Evans, Sr. Director of Public Policy at United Philanthropy Forum. Matthew brings a welcomed and insightful perspective to this discussion, as his work centers on the intersectionality of public policy and philanthropy.
