This call will explore the deep connections between immigration, housing insecurity, and the broader movement for housing justice and immigrant rights. Experts and advocates will discuss the connection between the harmful actions against our undocumented neighbors and housing justice and how anti-immigrant policies exacerbate displacement and homelessness—especially for undocumented individuals and mixed-status families. We’ll examine the real-life impact of these actions, share strategies for response, and discuss how funders and their grantee partners can support immigrant rights as a critical and necessary part of advancing housing justice.

Learning Objectives
  • Understand Policy and Legal Threats – Analyze current immigration policies, deportation threats, and xenophobic narratives that contribute to housing instability for undocumented individuals and mixed-status families.
  • Explore Cross-Movement Strategies – Examine the connection between the attack on our undocumented neighbors and housing justice and how the housing and immigration movements can collaborate and organize together.
  • Identify Opportunities– Provide funders with concrete strategies to support immigrant communities and frontline organizations, advocate for protective policies, and invest in long-term solutions that promote housing security for immigrant communities.

  • Jennifer Angarita, Deputy Director, Fund for Housing and Opportunity  (Moderator)
  • Danae Kovac, Executive Director, HANA Center
