Please join GreenLight Fund Philadelphia and Philanthropy Network on Tuesday, January 29 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM in learning about an innovative approach to reducing chronic absenteeism in Philadelphia.

Kinvolved is a social enterprise that takes a holistic approach to fighting student absenteeism. Through its attendance and family communications software, expert consulting, and community engagement events, Kinvolved helps to increase funding to school districts, create more economically viable communities, and improve graduation rates. They currently operate in large urban school districts such as New York City and Atlanta. This month, the company announced its 2018 Impact Report.

During the 2015-16 school year, nearly 33 percent of students in Philadelphia were “chronically absent” – or missed at least 10 percent of all school days (about 18 days), and in grades 9-12, the share of students approached 50 percent. The 2016-17 School Support Census surveyed 196 schools on areas of need and critical need in their school, and 68 percent reported attendance and truancy as an “overall need area.”

We invite you to meet members of Kinvolved's management team and learn more about solutions to this serious challenge in Philadelphia.
