Join us September 5 from 2:00 - 3:15 PM for a remote gathering focused on Philanthropy’s role in supporting healthy democracy and civic engagement in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The session will provide an overview of the landscape of statewide funder activities in 2024 that could impact the health of our democracy, as well as explore short- and long-term opportunities for investing in democracy and civic engagement work.
Facilitated by Emily Thielmann, Philadelphia resident and Deputy Director of the Democracy Funders Network, the speakers for the session are:
- Sage Cruz, Civic Engagement Director, One PA
- Will Fuller, Pennsylvania State Lead, Common Ground USA
- Robert Griffin, Associate Director, Democracy Fund
This convening will cover topics including violence and crisis prevention during elections, civic engagement and nonpartisan voter participation efforts, and the overall state of the democracy field and democracy philanthropy.
Special thanks to our partners Democracy Funders Network; Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania; Heinz Endowments; Philadelphia Health Partnership; and William Penn Foundation.
