In the wake of the new Administration’s Executive Orders striking at diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives (and more), nonprofits everywhere are asking: Should We Say DEI?

Answering this is not simple and one size will not fit all. This session brings together a panel of national and state leaders to provide legal and ethical considerations as your organization decides how to proceed. Along with providing guiding principles and questions for you and your board to discuss, you will hear from organizations who made decisions based on how they could best ensure service to those most vulnerable.

And perhaps most important, you will have the opportunity to grapple with all this entails with your peers. In truth, we need to safeguard and support each other – as an entire nonprofit community.

The session agenda includes the following (the Welcome through Guidance for Nonprofit Leadership Consideration will be recorded):

  • Welcome: Taking a Deep Collective Breath
  • High-Level DEI Executive Order Overview – Tiffany Gourley Carter, National Council of Nonprofits
  • Snapshot of Legal Considerations – Morgen Cheshire, Cheshire Law Group
  • Guidance for Nonprofit Leadership Consideration – Roshawnda Washington, The Nonprofit Center

(The following portion will not be recorded)

  • Nonprofit Stories from the Field
  • Small group Grappling Sessions
  • Wrap Up: Breathing Back Into Our Day
