The Brandywine Health Foundation announces over $800,000 in grants to organizations serving the greater Coatesville community

COATESVILLE, PA. January 9, 2018 - The Brandywine Health Foundation has announced 30 grants totaling $824,000, bringing the Foundation’s total giving since it began awarding grants and scholarships in 2002 to more than $16.5 million.

The Coatesville community has an extraordinary and impressive group of non-profit agencies providing high quality, critical services to its neighbors. Vanessa Briggs, President and CEO remarked, “The foundation continues to take the lead in partnering with non-profit organizations doing transformational work on behalf of our neighbors here in the greater Coatesville community. We remain committed to creating a culture of health and making Coatesville a greater place to live, work, play and pray through the foundation’s strategic priorities: health equity, healthy youth and healthy community.” The foundation’s grantmaking committee led by Margaret Rivello, vice chair, Brandywine Health Foundation, carefully reviewed several dozen proposals which led to the foundation’s Board of Directors unanimous approval of each of the community grants below.

Priority 1, Health Equity – Ensure that every resident of the Greater Coatesville community has the opportunity to make choices that will allow them to live a long and healthy life, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, disability, income or background.

1. Community Volunteers in Medicine ($10,000)

3. Maternal and Child Health Consortium ($45,000)
4. Public Citizens for Children & Youth (PCCY) ($5,000)
5. Pennsylvania Health Access Network ($7,500)
6. Valley Youth House ($5,000)
7. Volunteer English Program in Chester County ($7,000)

Priority 2, Healthy Youth – Empower youth aged 12 – 24 in our community to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, cultivate leadership skills and experience, and achieve their goals for the future.

1. The Bridge Academy and Community Center ($7,500)
2. Chester County Futures ($5,000)
3. Coatesville Youth Initiative ($75,000)
4. The Parkesburg POINT ($5,000)
5. Youth Mentoring Partnership ($5,000)

Priority 3, Healthy Community – Improve community conditions that help impact the health of everyone in Greater Coatesville.
