Philadelphia Health Partnership (PHP) recently launched its 25th anniversary with a breakfast event hosted by Board Treasurer and Glenmede President Peter J. Zuleba, III. Along with Zuleba, PHP Board Chair Loree D. Jones-Brown, Executive Director Ann Marie Healy, Program Director Lauren Wechsler, and Executive Assistant Ashley Garnett welcomed current and former grantees, former and current board members, and partners to the Glemede headquarters to reconnect with colleagues and hear about anniversary plans for the upcoming months. The plans include a series of virtual and in-person programs and culminate with a party in June. The foundation’s new web page features information about the milestone anniversary focusing on their work as a health equity champion; the page will be updated regularly to share details about the speaker series that will connect to our Nurture, Connect, Advocate, and Lead strategic priorities.
PHP was established as The First Hospital Foundation in 1997 as part of a merger between Pennsylvania Hospital and the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. After 20 years, the board and staff engaged in a strategic planning process in response to the shifting health care environment and the growing needs of individuals lacking access to critical services. It resulted in a refined vision, mission and guiding principles and a new name Philadelphia Health Partnership. Today, the Foundation is committed to improving the health of communities in Philadelphia, particularly those that have faced barriers to opportunity. Our grantmaking, partnerships and advocacy focuses on achieving greater equity in health and racial justice, with a special interest in children’s health and development at every stage in the early years of growth including perinatal care. To date, PHP has invested nearly $30 million in 175 different nonprofits through more than 500 grants.
