Our educational programs for members feature several different series that explore grantmaking strategy and practice. Visit our Event Calendar to find upcoming sessions.
Giving with Impact
The Giving With Impact Series addresses the topic our members report as their top priority: practicing philanthropy that has a strong, positive social impact. The series features prominent thought leaders and practitioners exploring key tools and techniques for achieving philanthropic impact.
Inside Stories
The Inside Stories Series offers members a “behind the scenes” look at individual organizations and collaborative initiatives from within the funding community. Members offer first-hand accounts of how they decided to initiate changes in their philanthropy or embark on a particular collaborative, what processes were involved, challenges they have overcome and major lessons they learned along the way.
Smart Grantmaking Practices
Smart Grantmaking Practices is a skill-based educational series popular with philanthropy veterans and newcomers alike. The series consists of a "grantmaking essentials” workshop plus additional standalone courses that offer a deeper dive into practice areas like financial analysis, legal issues and evaluation.
Critical Dialogues
Our Critical Dialogues highlight key initiatives and policy developments from throughout the region. These sessions allow the Network to be responsive to and proactive in elevating regional and national issues. Programs may be Network-driven or member-driven, with Network support for organizing and communicating.
Family Philanthropy Online Webinars
Provided through our partnership with the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP), these monthly webinars feature experts and practitioners presenting on a wide range of topics, including raising charitable children, effective family governance and new trends in family philanthropy. As a member of Philanthropy Network, you and your trustees are eligible to participate in these sessions free of charge.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion are complicated. It takes education, preparation and guidance from those who have already taken action. Through our programming, we hope to help funders access the tools, language and skills needed to adopt DEI practices that will inform and enhance the effectiveness of philanthropy in our region. Philanthropy Network engages national experts and local leaders who are spearheading the charge to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the sector.
