From coast to coast, citizens are raising their voices and advocating for their values through unprecedented civic engagement. Funders are activating their networks and resources to cultivate relationships and pursue equitable and sustainable outcomes in the food system. While there is an urgency to many of the issues at hand, the importance of supporting ongoing efforts has never been more clear. Long-term impact demands creativity, agility, courage, persuasive messaging, and proactive policy engagement.
The 4th Annual Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders (SAFSF) Policy Briefing returns to Washington, DC, a city where power and privilege coexist alongside significantly marginalized communities, disproportionately comprised of people of color who are at a political, social, and economic disadvantage. The 2017 Policy Briefing, Power in Action, will share stories from frontline communities that are harnessing their collective power; provide insights from individuals working within existing structures of political power; and examine funders’ responsibility to generate equitable outcomes.
