Established in 2000 as a unique partnership between the Phoebus Fund family foundation and Bread & Roses Community Fund, the Phoebus Criminal Justice Initiative provides grants to groups building a base to take collective action against injustices within the criminal legal system and have a long-term vision and engage strategies that promote justice within the criminal legal system.
Bread & Roses is now accepting applications for the Phoebus Criminal Justice Initiative for 2025. Grants ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 will be awarded to grassroots groups organizing to make change on issues such as police accountability, racially biased sentencing policies, growth of the for-profit prison industry, criminalization of youth, and the death penalty.
