Just in the last five years, 15 cities and three states have passed a right to counsel for tenants. That growth is owed to the hard work of tenants, advocates, organizers, and supporters on the ground. Lots of places want this critical tenant protection, but many are struggling with how to get there.

This upcoming September, PolicyLink is partnering with Results for America, National Coalition for a Civil Right to CounselHeartland Center for Jobs and Freedom, and Red Bridge Strategies on the Advancing Housing Justice: Right to Counsel for Tenants (AHJ:RTC) Sprint, an exciting new program dedicated to helping cities and states advance the right to counsel for tenants facing eviction. The Sprint, which consists of a series of webinars plus other programming, will be available to a limited number of applicants.

This informational webinar is for people who would like to learn more about the AHJ:RTC Sprint, what they should expect to gain, and the logistics for participating. This initial webinar will cover:

  • The value of right to counsel for tenants and why it's necessary locally,
  • Why NOW is the time to advance a right to counsel for tenants,
  • What participants will learn and gain from the Sprint in the fall, and
  • The logistics of the sprint and how to apply.

Other key dates:

  • August 17, 2022: Applications are due and will be available on the AHJ:RTC page soon
  • End of August 2022: Notification of application acceptance
  • September 13, 2022, @ 1:30 pm ET: Sprint Kick Off — Save the date!
