Philanthropy Network’s Small Funders and Place-Based Funders affinity groups, in partnership with City of Philadelphia’s Office of Grants, invite you to join us for a site visit and tour of Lower North Philadelphia.
Sometimes referred to as the 22nd Police District, this section of Philadelphia faces many challenges, but is also home to a number of exciting and transformative cross-sector initiatives that are empowering community members to help address pressing issues around trauma, youth development, economic opportunity, crime reduction, re-entry opportunities, and community development and engagement.
During this visit, we will meet with community leaders whose work and dedication are revitalizing this neighborhood every day, and foster conversations that can lay the groundwork for further engagement in the future.
Anticipated stops include:
- Dobbins High School (community school) and the adjacent Cecil B. Moore Rec Center (a REBUILD site)
- People’s Paper Co-op - an ongoing initiative by the Village of Arts and Humanities that transforms the narrative of re-entry
- 22nd Police District Headquarters - where we will hear from a police officer who is highly committed to building strong relationships in the community
- Strawberry Mansion Learning Center – an after school “safe haven” providing youth with education supports, field trips, mentoring and tutoring
Seating is limited. We ask that you limit registration to one representative from your organization.
