During the Greater Philadelphia Food Funders Annual Planning and Reflections Meeting held earlier this year, members discussed the importance of holding a policy briefing on the Farm Bill, where funders could get the facts on what’s at stake for food and nutrition programs in the upcoming budget and to discuss the necessity of finding new advocacy partners for the upcoming Farm Bill re-authorization.

As a result, the Greater Philadelphia Food Funders and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia invite you to join us for this special funders session, Identifying New Bedfellows in the Reauthorization Debate and in Administrative Advocacy .  

During this session, attendees will learn about:

  • Threats to vital anti-hunger programs - Such as Child Nutrition programs, SNAP/ Food Stamps, The Emergency Food Assistance Program , the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and WIC
  • How these programs work successfully now -  And how they may be changed in the current budgeting process
  • What funders can do Finding advocacy partners and working with new bedfellows like business and labor unions
  • Funders and Advocacy What is permissible: The rules and regulations around lobbying
