Join FCCP for a special virtual event in honor of AAPI Heritage Month on Tuesday, May 23 at 1:00 PM featuring a group of expert panelists who work collectively with diverse AAPI communities. From Messaging to Mobilizing: Advancing AAPI Equity & Solidarity in the Age of Mis- & Disinformation, will highlight the efforts of AAPI groups that are “cutting against the grain” to reach a large swath of AAPI voters across the country.
As our desires to consume news and other forms of media multiply, especially through a cultural lens, it is critical for us to be aware of the true impact that electoral mis- and disinformation have on the ability of disenfranchised people to exercise their power and voice.
Among the topics of discussion will be the various electoral “information harms” of which AAPI communities are both the target and perpetrator. We will also discuss the ways in which philanthropy can support the fight against harmful public narratives around electoral organizing and the advancement of equity and solidarity among, and within, AAPI communities.
