Join the Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity (PRE) for a two-part webinar series on Grantmaking with A Racial Justice Lens, a guide providing grantmakers with reflections, frameworks, and tools built from the direct experience of activists and funders for advancing racial justice in any philanthropic setting. During the webinars, PRE will share some key lessons on how foundations can move beyond a racial equity lens to grantmaking with a racial justice lens.
The first webinar of the series will provide an overview of the guide and address some of the ways foundations explore how grantmakers can assess and update their grantmaking practices with a racial justice lens. This focus will include a general introduction to the Guide, tips on addressing resistance to adopting a racial justice lens, and detail on how to use the Guide with your organization’s senior leadership, board/trustees, and staff.
This webinar is for you if you are:
-- At a foundation that has been doing work on racial equity, but would like to help move it to a more intentional racial justice focus;
-- At a foundation that says it is committed to advancing racial justice, but might be inconsistent in applying the lens across different areas or between different staff;
-- At a foundation that is early on its path toward racial equity, but in light of the national/global discussions of 2020, might be able to incorporate both a racial equity and racial justice lenses; or
-- At a philanthropic infrastructure organization or consultant seeking helpful tools for your funder members/clients
We will clarify definitions, components, and preview some ideas for engaging your foundation more broadly.
