This conversation and interactive workshop will serve as an extension of the powerful session hosted by Trista Harris, President of FutureGood, at ABFE’s 2023 Annual Conference, entitled “There are Black People in the Future.” Just as the preceding conversation provided a framework for developing a future-focused mindset across our shared philanthropic work in serving Black communities, our Quarter 2 webinar aims to equip our network with the future-thinking skills to create systems of change and elevated impact.
Disparities across the Black experience have prompted social and political shifts in our society, altering what have been long-held policies, social norms, and grantmaking practices. There now exists an opportunity to bring about a more beautiful and equitable future, whereby the philanthropic community leverages that same spirit of change amidst the racial realities facing the sector. Through this webinar, we hope to not only strengthen our shared ability to notice and track the trends that are important to our philanthropic efforts, but to build upon our capacity to identify and otherwise implement strategies that will impact the future of philanthropy in Black communities.
Trista Harris will be joined by fellow futurists Pierce Freelon, a GRAMMY® nominated Musician, Author, Educator, and Founder BlackSpace and Galactic South; and David Patrick Bickham, Chief Futurist of Bickham MetaFutures, LLC. Moderator: Aisha Alexander-Young, Managing Director of Frontline Solutions.
Join ABFE on July 19th as we take an interactive journey to explore the tenets of Black futurism and share tools to create a better future for Black people.
