Montgomeryville, PA, August 5, 2020: BLBB Charitable, the charitable giving arm of BLB&B Advisors, LLC, announced grants this week of $40,000 to several northern Montgomery County and Bucks County cultural institutions that continue to struggle with closures or reduced revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants were awarded to The County Theater in Doylestown, The Ambler Theater, The Bucks County Historical Society Mercer Museum, and ACT II Playhouse.
In addition to its previous $25,000 grant to MontcoPA COVID-19 Response Fund, BLBB Charitable made these one-time grants outside its mission focus of education and leadership opportunities to preserve important community institutions in its own backyard. While BLBB Charitable does not normally support cultural institutions in its impact grants program, its board realized that many direct service organizations have received emergency funding over the last few months, but cultural institutions have more limited COVID-19 related funding opportunities. “These institutions, especially the non-profit community movie theaters, often get overlooked in times like this,” said Nicole Tell, BLBB Charitable’s Executive Director. “Our board recognizes that these institutions are vital to a thriving community and their needs cannot be forgotten during this crisis.”
BLBB Charitable also made one-time emergency unrestricted grants to some of its Education and Leadership Impact grantees, such as Bucks County Opportunity Council and ACHIEVEability in West Philadelphia. These organizations have seen a substantial increase in needs by their community and face numerous challenges in executing their efforts to reduce poverty and promote economic self- sufficiency.
BLBB Charitable has committed more than $600,000 in Education and Leadership Impact grants in 2020.
