By 2050 in the United States, people of color will represent half the total population and more than half the working-age population. Studies show that the benefit of closing the racial equity gap is valued at $1 trillion in earnings today!  Join SSIR on April 23 for a complimentary SSIR Live! program, where we will examine why and how foundations can advance racial equity through both grant capital and investment capital.

This webinar will showcase three distinct approaches by foundations ensuring that racial equity is at the heart of their impact investing strategy. The discussion will offer actionable strategies for others seeking to align racial equity goals with their impact investing practice.

Co-presented by Mission Investors Exchange and Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR), this webinar is part of an ongoing essay series featuring perspectives from ten foundations that have committed to addressing racial inequity through their foundation's impact investing practices. Special thanks to Lumina Foundation for generously supporting the webinar.

Expert Speakers: La June Montgomery Tabron is president and CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan—one of the largest private foundations in the United States. As the organization’s first woman and first African American chief executive, Tabron leads the Kellogg Foundation in its work to support thriving children, working families, and equitable communities. Holiday Hart McKiernan is the acting chief executive officer and executive vice president, chief operating officer, and general counsel for Lumina Foundation. She speaks frequently on legal, governance, and policy issues concerning nonprofit organizations and higher education. Don Chen serves as president of the Surdna Foundation. Previously, he was the director of the Cities & States program at the Ford Foundation. He was also the founder and CEO of Smart Growth America, where he led efforts to create the National Vacant Properties Campaign (which later became the Center for Community Progress) and Transportation for America.

How to Register/RSVP:

Who Should Attend The webinar will be valuable for foundations, other asset-owners, nonprofits, and social enterprises working towards or interested in creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.
