Greater Philadelphia Corporate Volunteer Council Partners with Philadelphia Foundation

Friday, November 22, 2019

Philadelphia, PA (Nov. 21, 2019) -- The Greater Philadelphia Corporate Volunteer Council (GPCVC) is now partnering with the Philadelphia Foundation to help strategically guide corporate volunteerism throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

The GPCVC is a forum where the region’s corporate volunteerism professionals, representing corporations large and small, meet to learn, lead, and fuel collaborations that energize employees and improve the quality of life in our communities. It is dedicated to increasing the collective impact of employee volunteers with a focus on fostering greater collaboration within the business sector to support and improve nonprofit partnerships.

Both GPCVC and Philadelphia Foundation share a deep commitment to developing effective public and private partnerships by increasing the pipeline of local volunteers to provide sustained support to our nonprofit community.

The GPCVC’s focus on employee volunteerism will be bolstered by the Philadelphia Foundation’s Key Skills Hub, an online portal in which corporate volunteers bring their professional expertise to bear on specific projects. GPCVC-supported nonprofits will also have priority access to this marketplace of highly-skilled volunteers eager to donate their time and expertise to capacity-building projects in areas such as marketing, communications, human resources, and other significant areas.

“The GPCVC is very excited to embark on this new journey with the Philadelphia Foundation. We expect this next iteration of the GPCVC to provide strategic support and connections to member companies regardless of their size and scope, from the small and burgeoning to the large and established,” noted Martina Mansell, Communications and Community Relations Specialist at RevZilla and a GPCVC Co-Chair.

“We are thrilled for the chance to align with the Philadelphia Foundation’s vision and leadership to learn more about how we can meet the needs of nonprofits and together make the biggest difference possible,” added Marcia Gelbart, Senior Communications Director of Community Impact at Comcast and a GPCVC Co-Chair.

“When we coordinate efforts, we maximize impact,” said Philadelphia Foundation President and CEO Pedro Ramos. “From day one, the Philadelphia Foundation’s mission has been to serve the Greater Philadelphia community. As we move into the organization’s Second Century of Impact, we will continue to seek community engagement initiatives, like the GPCVC, to serve as a component of our broader efforts to make our region even stronger.”

The GPCVC is led by a steering committee composed of representatives from AmeriHealth Caritas, AmerisourceBergen, Aramark, Bank of America, Campbell Soup Company, the City of Philadelphia, Chubb, Comcast, Deloitte, Dow, Drexel, GSK, Independence Blue Cross, The Main Line Chamber of Commerce, PHENND, the Philadelphia Foundation, PNC, RevZilla, the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Vanguard, and Wells Fargo.

The City of Philadelphia has recognized the GPCVC for its leadership in strengthening the connection between the business community and the nonprofit sector. In 2018, Mayor Jim Kenney presented a special citation for the GPCVC’s work in bridging the divide between the need for volunteer support and the desire of individuals to serve the community – efforts that include collectively mobilizing 35,509 volunteers, logging 272,806 volunteer hours and completing 1,882 unique projects.
