The Hamilton Family Charitable Trust (HFCT) Board of Directors has named Chekemma Fulmore-Townsend as President effective July 5, 2022. Fulmore-Townsend succeeds Nancy Brent Wingo, who retires in July after 20 years of service. Most recently, Fulmore-Townsend served as President and CEO of the Philadelphia Youth Network.

Fulmore-Townsend will oversee planning, implementation, and management of the HFCT philanthropic grantmaking in the Philadelphia, Newport RI and Palm Beach County, FL markets. She will also serve as the organization’s senior executive responsible for strategic planning, budgeting and community outreach. She will report directly to the HFCT Board of Directors.

“Chekemma’s expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to supporting educational excellence will be an outstanding addition to the Hamilton Family Charitable Trust leadership team,” said S Matthews V Hamilton, Jr, Board Chair of the Hamilton Family Charitable Trust, Hamilton Family Foundation, and the Hamilton Family Aquidneck Island Fund. “We know that Chekemma will continue to build meaningful and collaborative partnerships with our non-profit grantees. She will expand HFCT’s mission of supporting academic excellence in Philadelphia schools and empowering students’ successful preparation for college and careers. Her strong experience in youth workforce development will help our organization support quality career-preparation initiatives in Philadelphia, Newport, and Palm Beach County schools.”

Fulmore-Townsend had 17 years with the Philadelphia Youth Network. During her presidency 135,000 job opportunities were extended to Delaware Valley youth. Her work has transformed the employment landscape for students, building partnerships with non-profits, city and state government, foundations, and businesses throughout Philadelphia. Before joining Philadelphia Youth Network, Fulmore-Townsend worked for the Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation, the Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work, both from the University of Pennsylvania.

About the Hamilton Family Charitable Trust
Founded in 1992, the Hamilton Family Foundation was established by Dorrance H and Samuel M V Hamilton and their three children Margaret Hamilton Duprey, Nathaniel Peter Hamilton, and S Matthews V Hamilton, Jr, to improve the lives of Philadelphia children and youth through educational enrichment programming. At Mrs Hamilton’s death in 2017, the Hamilton Family Charitable Trust was established to expand additional educational and career opportunities for Philadelphia students and to extend these services to Palm Beach County, FL and Newport, RI where family members reside. Today the Trust comprises two generations who continue to enhance students’ academic success in local schools, and to assist young people in gaining admission to college and job readiness. The Hamilton family is committed to enhancing the lives of the young people of Philadelphia, Newport, and Palm Beach County by providing programs that encourage them to explore their potential and to become outstanding citizens and partners in their communities.
