Downingtown, PA (March 28, 2023) – Family, friends, and staff and board members of the Fund for Women and Girls gathered together on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Chester County Intermediate Unit as the 2022-23 class of The Fund’s Girls Advisory Board (GAB) reflected on their philanthropic service and honored the amazing grantees the members selected for financial support.
A nationally recognized girls’ grantmaking leadership program, GAB provides 20+ local high school girls each year with an opportunity to learn firsthand about the deep and varied needs in their communities and equip themselves with the skills needed to address them.
Over 18 years, GAB youth philanthropists have awarded more than $300,000 to agencies that target the needs of women and girls through innovative services to tackle issues like poverty, violence, homelessness, mental illness, teen pregnancy and substance abuse.
This year, GAB was pleased to award grants to the following organizations:
- Maternal and Child Health Consortium received a $5,000 grant. With this grant, MCHC will be able to assist an additional 150 women by providing resources through their Healthy Start program.
- Domestic Violence Center of Chester County received a $5,000 grant. With this grant, DVCCC will be able to purchase an evidenced-based program to support children.
