CeaseFirePA is the state's leading anti gun violence advocacy organization. Through their common agenda coalition, they bring together a diverse set of stakeholders from across the commonwealth to advocate collectively for gun safety policies that will address the many different forms of gun violence that plague communities across our state.
During this presentation, we will:
- Discuss what gun violence looks like in PA, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties;
- Review specific forms of gun violence;
- Discuss statewide policies to address this crisis; and
- Offer actions that individuals and organizations can take to get involved in this fight for life-saving gun safety policy in Pennsylvania
SPEAKER
Sarah Jones
CeaseFirePA, Bucks/Montco Organizer
Originally from upstate New York, Sarah has been involved with politics and policy in PA since moving to Philadelphia in 2017 to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Sarah believes that patriotism requires action when your government fails to listen to and protect its citizens – and gun safety policy is a true example of where our state government has failed to listen to the majority of Pennsylvanians. She is excited to help volunteers and leaders in Montgomery and Bucks Counties develop their political knowhow and provide them with support as they work to hold their political representatives accountable.
Sarah has previously interned in Congressman Paul Tonko’s and Senator Chuck Schumer’s district offices, at SKDK (a political communications and public affairs firm), and worked as an organizer with the Progressive Turnout Project in Philadelphia ahead of the 2022 midterms. In her free time, Sarah enjoys board games, rock climbing, and pallet DIY projects
