Celebrate Pride Month with a funder briefing about LGBTQ inclusion. Key gaps in federal data collection have left advocates, policymakers, researchers, and others without critical insights into disparities, opportunities, and the effectiveness of interventions designed to advance equity for LGBTQ people. However, 2024 marks a historic moment in the movement: for the first time ever, the Census Bureau will test questions that allow LGBTQ people to identify themselves on the American Community Survey (ACS), the premier source of social, economic, housing, and demographic data on the nation’s population. Modifying the ACS—a key component of the decennial census program—in this way is critical to ensure the needs of LGBTQ communities are better understood in government programs, policies, funding investments, and enforcement of civil rights laws.
Learn more about the work happening, the opportunities for funders to get involved, and what success would mean for LGBTQ people and our communities.
This briefing is open to funders, philanthropy serving organization, and other philanthropic partners.
