John Templeton Foundation's mission is to support interdisciplinary research and catalyze conversations that inspire awe and wonder. The Foundation:

  • Only funds projects aligned with their major Funding Areas:

-Individual Freedom & Free Markets
-Life Sciences
-Character Virtue Development
-Public Engagement
-Mathematical & Physical Sciences
-Religion, Science, and Society

  • Generally, funds discrete projects. JTF's process and forms are not designed for other types of requests such as donations, operational support, or program support.
  • Accepts funding request from anyone.  JTF funds charitable entities that operate inside and outside of the United States. On rare occasions, they may fund individuals and for-profit companies doing charitable work that is consistent with their tax-exempt status.
  • Has a two-stage application process. Grant consideration begins with an initial Online Funding Inquiry (OFI) and, if invited, a detailed Full Proposal.
